In the event of an illness or injury at school or on a field trip, the following procedure is followed:
- Immediate first aid is given.
- Parents are contacted. If parents are unavailable, others named on the Emergency Form are contacted.
- If necessary, the child's doctor will be called and emergency treatment secured at the doctor's office or the requested hospital.
As provided on the emergency Form, parents give their permission for a hospital to provide emergency treatment. Emergency Child Information Forms will be taken on all field trips.
The teachers will discuss Fire Drill Procedures with the children in the fall so they understand Fire Drills and know what to do without fear or panic in the event of fire. A Fire Drill program has been established to assure prompt evacuation of the building in case of an emergency.
- When the U.S. Weather Bureau issues a Tornado Watch or Warning prior to the time school starts, classes will be canceled.
- If school is in session when a Tornado Watch is issued, school will remain in session.
- If school is in session when a Tornado Warning is issued, the children will be brought to a basement shelter. Parents may pick up their children early.
